The kitchen is a standout feature, offering an exceptional amount of custom cherry wood cabinetry extending to the ceiling, including illuminated glass-front display cabinets. Stone countertops, decorative tile backsplash, KitchenAid stainless-steel appliances, gas cooktop, built-in wall oven and microwave, under counter mini-frig, french-door refrigerator, dishwasher, recessed lighting, and generous preparation and serving space create a kitchen designed for both everyday living and entertaining.

Coordinated tile, crown molding, and neutral finishes create a cohesive, spa-like feel. A large walk-in closet offers a built-in organization system with ample hanging space, shelving, and drawers. Together, the bedroom, bath, and closet form an elegant and functional private retreat.

One of the home’s most appealing features is its connection to the outdoors. A spacious covered deck is supported by handsome stone columns and finished with a warm wood ceiling and low-maintenance composite decking. There is plenty of room for outdoor dining, grilling, and relaxing while enjoying views through the trees toward the adjoining golf course. An additional concrete stone patio area extend the outdoor living space, while natural stone retaining walls blend beautifully with the wooded surroundings.

The setting is especially attractive, with mature trees creating shade and privacy while still allowing scenic views across the manicured course. Photographs of the surrounding Glade Springs community reveal winding tree-lined roads, a beautiful golf course, and lakes, creating an inviting resort-style atmosphere.

ABOUT GLADE SPRINGS RESORT

Glade Springs is a large, gated golf and residential community in Daniels, West Virginia. Set among the forested mountains of southern West Virginia, the approximately 4,100-acre development combines permanent residences, vacation properties, golf courses, lakes, walking areas and the amenities of The Resort at Glade Springs. It is popular with full-time residents, retirees, second-home buyers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Residential neighborhoods

Glade Springs contains three principal residential areas:

Old Glade
Established in 1972, Old Glade is the community’s original neighborhood. It covers approximately 830 acres, generally offers larger lots and surrounds portions of the Cobb golf course and Glade Creek Gorge. Homes range from smaller residences and patio-style properties to substantial custom homes.

Stonehaven
Stonehaven was developed beginning around 2000. The neighborhood surrounds the Stonehaven golf course and includes wooded, golf-front and lakefront properties around Lake Chatham, a man-made lake of approximately 70 acres. Typical lots are smaller than many Old Glade properties, and numerous homes fall in the roughly 1,900- to 3,000-square-foot range.

Woodhaven
Woodhaven began around 2010 and is characterized by rolling terrain, wooded homesites, elevated views and proximity to the Glade Creek Gorge. The Woodhaven golf course winds through this newer section of the community.

Properties throughout Glade Springs may offer golf-course frontage, lake views, wooded settings or views toward the gorge. Available real estate commonly includes existing single-family homes, building lots and occasionally smaller attached or resort-oriented residences.

Golf and recreation

Glade Springs is centered around three 18-hole golf courses:

  • Cobb Course
  • Stonehaven Course
  • Woodhaven Course

The resort describes Stonehaven as a mountain course with forested terrain, elevation changes and natural rock formations, while the Cobb Course offers a more traditional George Cobb design.

Other amenities in and around the resort include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis and pickleball courts, fitness facilities, an eight-lane bowling center, fishing, hiking trails, spa services, restaurants, basketball, archery, disc golf, escape rooms and family recreation. Access rules and charges vary according to property-owner status, country-club membership and whether an amenity is operated by the POA or the resort.

Security and community atmosphere

The community has a staffed main entrance, an owner transponder lane and an electronically controlled entrance on the Woodhaven side. Security personnel also patrol the development and assist with enforcement of community regulations.

The setting is generally quiet and heavily wooded, with winding streets, mature trees, golf-course landscapes and frequent wildlife sightings. Community activities and resort events provide opportunities for residents who want a more social lifestyle, while the size of the development allows many homes to retain a secluded atmosphere.

Location and nearby attractions

Glade Springs is convenient to US Route 19, Interstate 64 and Interstate 77. The main entrance is only a few miles from the Beaver exit, providing convenient access to Beckley, shopping, medical services and regional employment centers.

Outdoor destinations nearby include New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, Grandview, Little Beaver State Park and Winterplace Ski Resort. The resort also provides seasonal transportation to Winterplace for guests and qualifying members.

Glade Springs is located within the Raleigh County School District, and Daniels Elementary School is located nearby.

Glade Springs offers an unusual combination of mountain scenery, gated-community living, golf and resort recreation. Its greatest appeal is the ability to enjoy a peaceful residential setting while remaining close to Beckley, major highways, jet airports, skiing and the New River Gorge.

THE SURROUNDING REGION

Raleigh County lies in the heart of Southern West Virginia, a region defined by forested Appalachian mountains, winding valleys, rocky ridges, clear streams, and dramatic river gorges. Centered around Beckley, the county serves as one of the primary commercial and transportation hubs for southern West Virginia, while still offering easy access to rural communities, mountain landscapes, and extensive outdoor recreation.

Beckley — The Regional Center

Beckley provides the region with shopping, dining, medical services, entertainment, lodging, and other everyday conveniences. Its location near the intersection of Interstates 64 and 77 makes Raleigh County especially accessible and provides convenient connections toward Charleston, the Greenbrier Valley, Princeton and Bluefield, as well as destinations in Virginia and North Carolina.

One of Beckley’s best-known destinations is Tamarack Marketplace, a showcase for West Virginia artists, craftspeople, food, and Appalachian culture located directly off the interstate. The city is also home to the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine, reflecting the coal-mining heritage that played such an important role in shaping the communities of southern West Virginia.

A Landscape Built Around the Outdoors

Perhaps Raleigh County’s greatest regional advantage is its proximity to the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve. The park protects more than 70,000 acres along the New River and offers exceptional opportunities for hiking, sightseeing, whitewater recreation, climbing, camping, fishing, and exploring the natural and cultural history of the gorge.

The Grandview section of the national park is especially convenient to Raleigh County. Its overlooks provide sweeping views high above the New River, while its trail system, picnic areas, seasonal visitor facilities, and outdoor programming make it one of the area’s signature destinations.

Closer to Beckley, Lake Stephens provides another major recreational resource. The county park encompasses approximately 2,300 acres, including a 272-acre mountain lake surrounded by extensive hardwood forest. Boating, fishing, swimming, kayaking, camping, and cabin stays make the lake an important warm-weather destination for residents and visitors.

Recreation in Every Season

The Raleigh County area offers recreation throughout the year. During the warmer months, residents can hike mountain trails, fish area lakes and streams, camp, paddle, mountain bike, or venture into the New River Gorge for rafting and climbing. In autumn, the heavily forested mountains become particularly scenic as hardwood foliage changes color.

Winter brings another dimension to the region. Winterplace Ski Resort at Ghent, just south of Raleigh County along the I-77 corridor, offers downhill skiing, snowboarding, and a large snow-tubing park, giving the area an outdoor attraction during a season when many mountain destinations become quieter.

Small Towns, Country Living, and Mountain Communities

Outside Beckley, the character changes quickly. Communities such as Beaver, Shady Spring, Daniels, Mabscott, Sophia, Lester, and surrounding rural areas offer a mixture of established neighborhoods, farms, wooded acreage, mountain homes, and country properties.

This creates an appealing balance: a person can live on several acres surrounded by woods and mountain scenery yet remain within reasonable reach of Beckley for groceries, healthcare, restaurants, schools, and other services. Much of the surrounding countryside retains a distinctly rural Appalachian character, with winding roads following ridgelines and valleys and homes scattered among forests, small farms, creeks, and open fields.

Gateway to a Larger Adventure Region

Raleigh County is also well positioned for exploring a much larger portion of southern West Virginia. To the north and northeast are the communities and recreation areas of the New River Gorge region, including Fayetteville and the famous gorge itself. Traveling south leads toward Ghent, Princeton, Bluefield, and the Virginia border, while traveling east eventually connects with the Greenbrier Valley and communities such as Lewisburg.

For that reason, tourism organizations describe Raleigh County as a gateway to Southern West Virginia’s outdoor attractions rather than simply a destination unto itself.

The Overall Lifestyle

The Raleigh County region offers a combination that can be especially attractive from a real estate and relocation standpoint: the conveniences of a regional center in Beckley combined with nearby mountain acreage, recreational property, small communities, and remarkable access to outdoor destinations.

For buyers who enjoy mountain scenery, privacy, hunting and fishing, hiking, boating, skiing, or simply a quieter pace of life, the area provides an opportunity to enjoy rural West Virginia without being completely removed from shopping and essential services. Its location beside major interstate corridors and near New River Gorge National Park adds another significant advantage, connecting a traditionally rural Appalachian region with one of West Virginia’s best-known outdoor destinations.
