Tater Hill Farm is a charming 83 acre country farm located on the rural Chestnut Flats Road just outside historic Lewisburg, WV. The property has a nice mix of open fields and forest land, a restored farmhouse and a 4-acre fenced paddock with watering trough perfect for raising farm animals. The property offers plenty of privacy and has great access to shopping, medical services, arts and entertainment nearby.

Lovingly cared for over the years, Tater Hill Farm is ready to be occupied by its new owners.

A mixture of open and wooded land enables multiple uses of the property. The farm has about 16 acres of open fields with the remainder in nicely laying woodland.

Every year the owners have raised 3 or 4 young steers in the 4-acre fenced paddock on Tater Hill. Water is provided to a trough system by a developed spring with two 1,000-gallon tanks for storage. This paddock could also be a great field for horses or other farm animals.

The property has several pond sites including a perfect site between the farmhouse and barn. A small pond just above the workshop is filled with cattails and is a favorite place for Red-winged Blackbirds and song birds.

Several century-old trees can be found scattered throughout the forest and field edges. These hardy trees have withstood the test of time, weathering ice, wind, lightning strikes, fire and of course, woodpeckers. The forest was selectively harvested in 2004, but was so carefully done that one has to look for evidence of the harvest to realize anything was done.

A well-maintained trail gives access through much of the property.

The forest is home to a vast array of wildlife which includes an amazing variety of song birds, owls, hawks, woodpeckers, ravens and wild turkeys. White tailed deer, raccoons, opossums, rabbits, chipmunks, and perhaps a bobcat enjoy the protection offered by the forest.

The forest floor is home to several types of mushrooms, medicinal plants, ferns and cool green mosses. One could spend a lifetime getting to know this inviting environment.

The home on Tater Hill Farm harkens to days gone by. Lovingly restored and updated over the years, the original structure is over 100 years old. Although heated by a modern forced air furnace, the current owners prefer the comfort and independence of wood heat generated by stoves in the kitchen, living room and den.

A wormy Chestnut paneled sunroom just off the kitchen provides a comfortable space to relax while enjoying a view of the surrounding farm, especially on a rainy day when you can sit and enjoy the soothing sound of the raindrops on the metal roof.

Surrounding the home are ancient apples trees, mature cherry trees, a heritage hydrangea bush, irises, peonies, grape arbors and split rail fencing.

For the golfer the extended yard includes a groomed chipping and pitching area accommodating clubs to 150 yards.

As true with many older homesteads, Tater Hill Farm has a great barn in the front field and several outbuildings and a workshop nestled behind the farmhouse.
